ABSTRACT
Hemorrhoid disease is one of the most prevalent rectal conditions. It is associated with a significant impact on quality of life. Hemorrhoids usually don't pose diagnostic challenges, and they rarely present with life-threatening complications. Typically, acutely thrombosed hemorrhoids are managed conservatively, and emergency hemorrhoidectomy is seldom needed except in cases complicated by bleeding. Hemorrhoid necrosis is rarely secondary to hemorrhoid disease. We report the case of a patient with hemorrhoid necrosis due to a mucosal prolapse managed with hemorrhoidectomy. Because clinical deterioration occurs fast, a high index of suspicion should be maintained, and emergency surgery is always required.
