ABSTRACT

Harassment and Sexual harassment are a prevalent type of violence in different areas such as school, work, and social interactions; it can be carried out by men or women towards people of the same sex or the opposite sex. It manifests itself in many ways: verbally, with insinuations, proposals, comments, or invitations to participate in some sexual activity; non-verbal, which is carried out using gestures, whistles, drawings, electronic or other means and finally, through physical touching that can range from unnecessary touching to rape. All these forms are uncomfortable and unwanted by the people who receive them. The physical manifestations that the victims exhibit is the result of chronic stress due to the release of hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, among others. It affects different organs, generating a series of changes that alter and modify their normal function, leading to victims to develop diseases such as high bloodpressure, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, headaches, gastrointestinal problems, and many more.
