ABSTRACT

Telemedicine refers to the provision of health services remotely through the use of information and communication technologies. It includes virtual medical consultations, diagnosis, treatment and patient monitoring through digital platforms, such as video conferencing, use of mobile applications and access to websites. This article presents a series of benefits and disadvantages of telemedicine. Family physicians are agents of change and we must use these tools by choosing the most convenient scenario for our patients, emphasizing that we care for people, sick people and not diseases.
