ABSTRACT

Objective: to know the post-COVID-19 consequences on the male reproductive system and recommendations on how to live sexuality in times of Pandemic. Method: A documentary-type bibliographic review was carried out from December 2019 to December 2023. International electronic search tools were used to collect information: PubMed, Google Scholar, SciElo and ScienceDirect. Different combinations of words were used: COVID-19 sequelae, SARS-CoV-2, men's genitourinary system, men's reproductive system, semen, sexual health, reproductive health, erectile dysfunction, emotions and sexuality. The information was classified based on two main axes: I. post-COVID-19 consequences in the male reproductive system and II. recommendations on how to experience sexuality in times of pandemic. Results: the post-COVID-19 sequelae mainly affect the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, consequently affecting sexual health in men as another risk factor in erectile dysfunction. In the male genital tract, the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has been found in semen; this, together with the changes in lower sperm quality, raises doubts about the probable consequence of male infertility. All of this leads to reflections on how to live sexuality in times of the COVID-19 pandemic and some recommendations and suggestions were found to enjoy sexuality in a period of forced confinement and with increased use of digital and virtual media (masturbation, sexting, video dating, sexual activity alone or with a partner). Conclusions, the pandemic due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus has left post-COVID-19 consequences that changed the lives of millions of people, leaving some conditions that have not yet been able to be reversed, others that have complicated daily life, and some more. that are yet to be discovered or verified. Prospective studies continue to be a necessity to identify post-COVID-19 sequelae, at an organic level, and their link to male sexuality.
