ABSTRACT
Introduction: retroperitoneal liposarcomas are rare malignant tumors known for their slow growth and brutal treatment. Case report: a 68-year-old male presented with abdominal distension and pain and was admitted to the emergency department. During the diagnostic approach, a computed axial tomography (CT) scan showed a tumor dependent on the retroperitoneum, and a laparotomy was performed with the histopathological result of liposarcoma. Surgery is the cornerstone of treatment to achieve negative margins. Conclusion: Experience in the management of a giant liposarcoma with right hemicolon involvement, which overlies adjacent organs and structures, becomes a surgical challenge, so it is essential to treat patients as early as possible, by radical en bloc surgery.REFERENCES
