ABSTRACT

Introduction: Valsalva sinus aneurysms are abnormal dilatations of the aortic root between the valve annulus and the sinotubular junction of the ascending aorta. Clinical case: a 54-year-old man with dyspnea and syncope with a high suspicion of PE. Radiological tests reveal the presence of a Valsalva sinus aneurysm. Conclusion: this entity is rarely diagnosed and can be confused with other conditions. Due to its multifactorial etiology, the treatment of choice is surgery. It is important to know the radiographic signs to obtain an early diagnosis and plan the appropriate treatment.
