Poland syndrome

ABSTRACT

Poland syndrome is a rare congenital disease of unknown etiology that affects the development of the pectoralis major muscle. It is frequently accompanied by malformations of the hand, breast, nipple-areola complex, ipsilateral pectoralis minor, and other malformations. A female newborn is presented in whom agenesis of the right pectoral muscle and an anomaly of the right hand are detected from birth. Poland syndrome is diagnosed and classified as grade I.
