ABSTRACT
Introduction: Renal percutaneous surgery is considered the gold standard for the treatment of renal lithiases bigger than 2 centimetres. Bleeding represents the most feared post-surgery complication that might require a blood transfussion in some patients. Objective: Describe the results of the surgical treatment of renal lithiasis through percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
Methods: It was conducted a retrospective study in 40 patients with renal lithiasis that were treated through percutaneous nephrolithotomy from 2016 to 2020 in the Urology Service in “Dr. Carlos J. Finlay” Central Militar Hospital. For the analysis of relation among qualitative variables, it was carried out a multivariate analysis using the Chi-squared statistic. It was considered a significance level of 5% (p < 0.05).
Results: The average age was 45,3 years. Male sex and the history of arterial hypertension (32,5 %) predomianted. 23 pyelic lithiasis (57,5 %) were treated. Pneumatic lithotripsy was applied in 29 patients. The average surgical time was of 92,8 minutes and 32 patients (80 %) were free of lithiasis. Seven Clavien-Dindo GII complications (17,5 %) were registered. There was not statistical association among the post-surgical complications and the clinical history (p = 0,288), the type of lithiasis (p = 0,633), laterality (p = 0,085) and the surgical time (p = 0,777), among other.
Conclusions: It was observed a quick recovery of the patients and predominated the patients with lithiasis. In the serie were found few incidents during the peri-operatory period.
