ABSTRACT

Objective: To know the panorama in 2024 regarding job vacancies in hospitals hosting the otorhinolaryngology residency, heads of service, teaching staff and number of residents by gender.
Materials y Métodos: A prospective, observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, descriptive survey study was conducted between June and December 2024. Data on the approximate number of women members of the different otorhinolaryngology groups or associations in our country were obtained through telephone inquiries to their offices.
Results: The number of jobs held by men and women was almost equal, but there was still a majority of men in department heads and senior professor positions.
Conclusions: Currently, more women than men are registered in otorhinolaryngology resident positions, which will most likely be reflected in a few years in changes to these jobs and the representation of female specialists in our groups and associations, in line with global changes in all areas in which women give visibility to their work, changing the world from our place from a feminine vision with responsibility and perseverance, with support networks that promote social changes towards equality.
