ABSTRACT
Synovial lipomatosis is a rare entity of the synovial membrane. It most frequently affects the knee joint but may also occur in other joints. It occurs in men in the fifth or sixth decade of life, with a usual monoarticular presentation. Its etiology is unknown, but a reactive rather than neoplastic process is supported. This disease has a characteristically arborescent radiological, macroscopic, and microscopic morphology due to adipose infiltration of the sub-synovial tissue, which is key for its diagnosis.
