ABSTRACT
The treatment of patients with avian influenza in the countries affected by epidemic outbreaks had been focus in two principal ways, the support interventions, basic and advanced measures, and the use of antiviral agents. The interventions of basic support involve respiratory isolation and inhaled therapy measures. The advanced support, begins with the ingress from the patient to the intensive care unit, and involves the old monitoring systems, oxygen therapy, early tracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation. The main antiviral agents involve the adamantanatos (amantadina and rimantadina), and the inhibitors of neuraminidases (oseltamivir and zanamivir). The first it consider the election ones in open population at least the illness occurs with viruses with high suspicious of resistance to adamantanatos. If the patient is very ill and the way is available, the inhibitors of neuraminidases are the best choice. The actual recommendations have not a great level of evidence and are based in animal studies.REFERENCES
