ABSTRACT

Red scrotum syndrome is a chronic skin disease characterized by persistent erythema in the anterior scrotum associated with a burning sensation, hyperalgesia and pruritus. Its etiology remains unknown, nevertheless, four theories have been proposed to explain its possible pathogenic mechanism: rebound vasodilation, erythromelalgia, neurogenic inflammation and biofilm formation. In this article we report the case of an 82-year-old male with red scrotum.
