ABSTRACT

As with any surgery, liposuction is subject to complications that may occur during or after the procedure. Among the most prominent are those related to general anesthesia, thrombosis, cardiac issues, and infections. Unexpected developments should urge an investigation to rule out surgical complications or determine if an external cause is responsible. Differential diagnosis to guide the patient, along with multidisciplinary collaboration for the best solution. We present the case of a 58-year-old woman who developed cellulitis in both lower limbs after surgery. This was initially attributed to a possible infection; further tests ruled this revealing the symptoms had an autoimmune origin.
