Supraclavicular fasciocutaneous flap for head and neck reconstruction

ABSTRACT

The supraclavicular flap is a viable alternative for head and neck reconstruction in patients who are not suitable for microsurgical procedures, because of poor clinical condition or high oncologic recurrence risk. It provides great skin color and texture match to the recipient areas, as well as minimal donor site morbidity. We present a case of immediate reconstruction of a 13 × 12.5 cm defect in the temporomandibular region, following resection of recurrent differentiated embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. A ipsilateral pedicled supraclavicular flap was used, with satisfactory clinical and aesthetic outcomes.
