ABSTRACT
Mexico has established itself as a destination of interest for foreign medical students seeking to undertake professional internships and complement their clinical training. This phenomenon has increased the need to ensure that such internships are conducted within an appropriate legal framework, complying with the immigration, educational, and professional practice requirements established under national law. Mexican legislation sets strict requirements that foreigners must meet if they wish to engage in professional activities in Mexico. In this context, foreign students must act solely as trainees, not as physicians responsible for medical acts, and must always be under the supervision of a certified professional. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in criminal and administrative liabilities. The proper implementation of these processes not only protects patients and students themselves but also strengthens the rule of law and the quality of education in the country. Therefore, it is essential to follow the appropriate immigration procedures, duly register foreign academic studies when applicable, and ensure that medical internships are carried out in accordance with the relevant legal frameworks.REFERENCES
