Early clinical simulation in medical students: level of confidence and satisfaction

ABSTRACT

Introduction: the objective of this study is to analyze the level of confidence and satisfaction gained by second-year medical students at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid who participate in a simulation-based seminar program focused on clinical examination skills. Materials and methods: surveys were conducted with second-year students following a simulation workshop and during their clinical rotations. The workshop includes examination techniques and the creation of a video. Results: a total of 193 students completed at least one survey, and 121 students completed all three. The level of clinical skill acquisition after the simulation workshops exceeded 90% in most examination techniques. The average scores for items related to learning, satisfaction, and video production were above 80%. Conclusions: simulation-based learning enhances knowledge, skills, and self-confidence in clinical abilities prior to real clinical practice for early-year medical students.
