ABSTRACT

Metastatic tumors of the heart from esophageal cancer are rare and, consequently, there are few studies on the subject, with poorly defined solutions and an unfavor-able prognosis. We present the case of a 49-year-old man, a smoker since childhood, with progressive dysphagia for four years, due to an esophageal tumor. The cardiac involvement was diagnosed during the preoperative echocardiographic examina-tion. The case was discussed collectively, an initial cardiac surgery was discarded and a follow-up by a multidisciplinary team (several specialties) was decided, for subsequent action to be taken depending on the evolution of the patient.
