ABSTRACT
Female genital mutilation is a traditional practice in several countries, which violates human rights and is a manifestation of gender violence. Although Cuba is geographically and culturally distant from these practices, Cuban health professionals carry out missions in numerous countries in Asia, the Middle East and Africa where these practices exist. It is the author's purpose to inform about its repercussion, not only physical but also mental, and to communicate the multiple manifestations and disorders it causes in the short, medium and long term in women and girls, affecting their quality of life and their full biopsychosocial and spiritual development.REFERENCES
