ABSTRACT

Nowadays, forensic genetics has been established as a fundamental tool in criminal investigations, allowing for the identification of individuals and the linking of people to family relationships or crime scenes through DNA testing. However, this technology poses significant bioethical challenges, particularly regarding the collection of samples, the handling of genetic data, and the rights of those involved in the criminal process. This case report presents the application of forensic genetics in a case of aggravated homicide, where these bioethical challenges are analyzed concerning police abuse in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.
