ABSTRACT
Introduction: digital literacy allows the acquisition of skills and knowledge necessary to face the challenges of today's world. Objective: to analyze different foundations related to digital competences, particularized to the health sector, to serve as a reference for their contextualization in the training environment of gastroenterology specialists in Cuba.
Methods: A systematic bibliographic review of articles published in Spanish and English was conducted. A total of 68 articles were consulted, of which 34 were analyzed. The search was performed in SciELO, Google Scholar and Scopus databases. Titles, abstracts and keywords were read to check their relevance to the study.
Development: The content was analyzed based on the sub-themes: the multiple definitions of the term competence, digital competence, the growing challenge of adapting digital competence to the demands of today's world, e-health and its presence in medical training programs, and a look at the e-health training of gastroenterology residents. These allowed an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of digital literacy. There are no specific frameworks focused on the training of Cuban residents in Gastroenterology.
Conclusions: From the analysis emerged some considerations to consider in the implementation of information and communication technologies and the development of digital literacy in the training of specialists in gastroenterology, which should be contextualized to the real technological conditions for these professionals to adapt to a changing labor and technological world.
