ABSTRACT
Introduction: systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease with a higher incidence in young adults, especially women. Although the literature has shown that men are not exempt from developing this disease, the heart is affected in only a few cases, and pericardial effusion is rarely the initial presentation. Clinic case: a 22-year-old male patient presented with arthralgia, fatigue, fever, and edema. Clinical and imaging examinations showed evidence of pericardial effusion, and laboratory studies showed immunological alterations typical of SLE. Conclusion: the case of a male patient who presented with pericardial effusion was described.REFERENCES
