ABSTRACT
Stress is the way in which the brain and the body respond to challenges. University students are constantly subjected to a high academic load and stressful situations, which has an impact on their lifestyles. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact that academic stress has on the healthy lifestyle habits of third year nursing students at a state university in Chile. A prospective longitudinal design study with non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used. Data collection was carried out with a self-created survey based on the SISCO academic stress instrument (Systemic Cognitivist Inventory for the Study of Academic Stress) carried out to the target population at two time points to evaluate the parameters of nutrition, physical activity and sleep rest related to periods with and without academic stress, limited to a sample size of 10 participants in both periods. Data analysis was carried out in Microsoft Excel and Infostat, using descriptive statistics. The results show that academic stress has a negative impact on the healthy lifestyle habits of those surveyed. In conclusion, it is suggested to conduct a probabilistic cross-sectional study with fewer variables and a larger sample to avoid losses and achieve greater representativeness.REFERENCES
