ABSTRACT

Introduction: ovarian cysts have an incidence of 1 in 2,600 pregnancies. These cysts generally resolve spontaneously, but some cases require surgical intervention. Case report: a one-month-old female newborn presented with an abdominal mass on physical examination. Imaging studies revealed the presence of an ovarian cyst. She underwent exploratory laparotomy with resection of the left ovarian cyst, with a good postoperative course. The histopathological report indicated a congenital cystadenoma. Conclusions: timely identification of ovarian cysts allows for personalized care planning to improve the patient' prognosis.
