ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine lifestyle changes and metabolic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: A before-and-after intervention study was conducted in patients with T2DM enrolled in the Diabetes Care Center (CADIMSS) program between January and June 2024 at the Family Medicine Unit No. 40 in Mexicali, Baja California (BC), from the Mexican Social Security Institute; enrolled in the “Diabetes Care Center” (CADIMSS) program between January and June 2024. They were administered the IMEVID (Instrument to Measure Lifestyle in Diabetics) survey, which includes treatment adherence and metabolic control. Descriptive statistics and the χ2, Student t, or Wilcoxon test were used using SPSSv24 statistical software. Results: The sample consisted of 114 patients who attended the CADIMSS program. The predominant group was age 52 years and female sex. Anthropometric changes were observed with weight reduction from 79.58 kg to 73 kg, waist circumference from 104 cm to 100 cm; metabolic control with a decrease in cholesterol from 206.57 to 175.77 mg/dl, triglycerides from 155 mg/ dl to 135 mg/dl, glucose from 142 mg/dl to 119 mg/ dl, and HbA1c from 8.4% to 7.34%. Lifestyle changes increased from 22 patients to 71 in the “very healthy” category; these changes were significant (p=‹0.00). Conclusions: Attending the CADIMSS program improved the lifestyle and metabolic control of patients with diabetes.REFERENCES
