ABSTRACT

Introduction. Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that remains a growing public health concern in various regions of Peru. Studies on the knowledge levels of healthcare professionals can provide valuable insights into how this disease is managed.
Objective. To determine the association between work-related stress, knowledge levels, and attitudes with preventive practices against dengue among healthcare professionals at the primary care level in the health micro-networks of Leoncio Prado Province, Huánuco, 2022.
Materials and methods. An observational, analytical, retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted with 180 healthcare professionals from primary care facilities. The independent variables were work-related stress, knowledge levels, and attitudes, while the dependent variable was dengue preventive practices. A validated questionnaire, reviewed by five experts, was used chi-square tests were applied with a significance level of p ‹0.05.
Results. The mean age of participants was 37.2 years (sd ± 8.7). Inadequate preventive practices were observed in 65% of the professionals. A statistically significant association was found between medium-low knowledge (p = 0.02), age (p = 0.024), and type of healthcare facility (p = 0.001) with preventive practices.
Conclusions. Knowledge levels play a crucial role in determining preventive practices against dengue among healthcare professionals.
