ABSTRACT
Introduction: laparoscopic cecectomy is a safe and effective minimally invasive approach for the resection of tubulovillous adenomas, which have malignant potential in the cecum. This case report highlights the benefits of laparoscopy in terms of rapid recovery and low postoperative morbidity, contributing to the literature on its use for premalignant lesions. Case report: a 47-year-old asymptomatic male with a family history of colorectal cancer underwent screening colonoscopy, which identified a 4 cm polyp at the cecal base. Polypectomy confirmed a tubulovillous adenoma, leading to a laparoscopic cecectomy. The procedure was completed without complications, and the patient was discharged the following day. Histopathology confirmed clear surgical margins. Conclusion: laparoscopic cecectomy is a safe and effective surgical option for tubulovillous adenomas in the cecum. This approach allows for faster recovery and lower morbidity compared to open surgery, making it a preferable alternative in selected cases.REFERENCES
