ABSTRACT
Introduction: knowledge of biliary anatomy and its anatomical variants is of vital importance for any specialist dedicated to biliary surgery, lack of knowledge of this can end in surgical catastrophes that impact the patient's life. One of the rare anomalies is the duplication of the gallbladder, presenting an incidence of one in 4000 cases, frequently found incidentally during a laparoscopy, imaging studies or autopsies. Clinical case: a 47-year-old male patient with recurrent biliary colic and a diagnosis of gallstones without an exacerbation event, elective surgical treatment is provided with laparoscopic cholecystectomy, with the finding of a "Y" gallbladder duplication, performing intraoperative cholangiography with no evidence of another variant of the biliary tree. Conclusion: gallbladder duplication is one of the least common alterations in our medical field, although it also presents with a clinical picture and diagnosis very similar to cholecystitis, most of these are diagnosed incidentally during their protocol or surgical intervention, so it merits having the necessary equipment and surgical skill for its resolution and verification, above all, of the integrity of the biliary tract. The importance of adhering to the quality standards in safe cholecystectomy, the full knowledge of the anatomy and its variants avoids adverse events that can become catastrophic for the evolution and life of our patient.REFERENCES
