ABSTRACT

The term "bioethics" was introduced by Van Rensselaer Potter, whose initial goal was to create a discipline that would merge biology with the humanities, with a focus on ensuring the survival of humanity. He later broadened his perspective on bioethics, developing what he called "global bioethics". Latin American bioethics is centred on and concerned with the inequalities that exist in all areas of the social context (economic, health, work, gender, etc.), which is why it adheres to one of the principles of bioethics, which is justice. but at the same time there is resistance to the emphasis on individual autonomy, especially that which is denied to those who have less, thinking of a collective solution that can help to overcome the existing problems.
