ABSTRACT

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is an autoimmune blistering disease characterized by the loss of celullar adhesion of keratinocytes, which produces acantholysis, clinically observed as extremely painful blistering lesions on the skin and mucous membranes. The oral mucosa is one of the most frequently affected sites, causing bleeding and intense pain. Laser biostimulation is a therapeutic alternative for the treatment of oral ulcers, significantly reducing the pain caused by ulcers. The treatment of a 27-year-old male patient with newly diagnosed PV is described, using gallium diode laser (904 nm) as adjuvant therapy for oral lesions. The treatment consisted of four sessions of photobiomodulation. The results showed a notable reduction in pain and a significant improvement in the healing of the lesions, achieving complete remission. The laser promoted the regeneration of the oral mucosa, improving the patient's quality of life.
