ABSTRACT

Aeromonas hydrophila can cause bacteremia, secondary skin and soft tissue lesions, and hematogenous osteomyelitis, mainly in immunocompromised patients. In hosts with risk factors it probably enters the systemic circulation through bacterial translocation. Antibiotic treatment should be guided by the antibiogram and clinical response. Early and appropriate recognition and treatment can reduce the high associated mortality. We present a 10-year-old patient with common type B acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the induction period, who presented the aforementioned pathologies.
