ABSTRACT
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is a rare and important cause of acute coronary syndrome. It is predominant in middle aged, Caucasian women. Treatment options include medical therapy, percutaneous coronary artery intervention or surgery. We describe a 63-year-old woman with a history of dyslipidemia and hypertension, began with acute chest pain. Coronary angiography was performed observing a type 1B pattern dissection, in the ostial segment of the left anterior descending artery, extending to the middle segment. Pharmacological treatment with beta-blockers, angiotensin receptor antagonists, and aspirin was initiated and well tolerated. She remained asymptomatic during hospitalization and was discharged without complications.REFERENCES
