ABSTRACT
Introduction: laparoscopic cholecystectomy is performed in a general way, allowing to manage pain more easily and to reduce hospitalization time.
Objective: to evaluate clinically patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy with intravenous lidocaine.
Material and methods: a retrospective, descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the clinical parameters of patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy with intravenous lidocaine.
Results: 40 patients evaluated, 27.5% men and 72.5% women. Average age 44.35 years. Taking into account normal weight, underweight, overweight and obesity, as well as a history of chronic degenerative diseases. Pain evaluation by EVA of 50% was moderate, at two hours there were 5 points of moderate pain, at four hours there were 2 points of mild pain, at eight hours with a score of 1 and 3 with mild pain. The hospital stay was 3.2 days on average.
Conclusion: intravenous lidocaine is an effective and safe tool optimizing pain control, reducing opioid use, and promoting recovery.
