Efficacy of the combination of dexketoprofen + paracetamol for laparoscopic hysterectomy

ABSTRACT

Introduction: postoperative pain after laparoscopic hysterectomy can hinder recovery. Multimodal analgesia aims to optimize its control. Objective: to compare the analgesic efficacy of intravenous dexketoprofen versus other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in postoperative pain prevention. Material and methods: retrospective cohort study in a tertiary-level hospital in Mexico, including 55 patients: dexketoprofen + paracetamol (n = 27) vs other NSAIDs + paracetamol (n = 28). Baseline data, analgesic rescue, pain score (ENA), adverse events, and hospital stay were analyzed. Results: no significant differences in baseline variables. Dexketoprofen group showed shorter time to first rescue (p = 0.050) and lower ENA score at discharge (p = 0.013). No significant differences in rescue frequency or adverse events. Conclusions: dexketoprofen + paracetamol provides more effective postoperative analgesia than other NSAIDs, reducing pain intensity and time to first rescue.
