ABSTRACT
Introduction: mastitis and neonatal breast abscess are
rare conditions.
Objective: to present the case of a female
newborn with a breast abscess.
Case presentation: the
patient was admitted at nine days of age with enlargement
of the left mammary gland, accompanied by erythema,
induration, and nipple discharge. Medical treatment with
antimicrobials and local measures was sufficient to resolve
the condition.
Conclusions: breast abscess is a condition
that requires a comprehensive clinical evaluation to establish
the diagnosis and provide timely treatment.
