ABSTRACT

Pitt’s pit is a benign subcortical lesion of the femoral neck, typically asymptomatic and discovered incidentally. Its prevalence increases in patients with femoroacetabular impingement, a condition associated with early joint degeneration. We present the case of a patient with acute hip pain following physical activity, in whom magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a compatible lesion, with no evidence of muscular injury. This finding suggests a potential clinical manifestation in the context of mechanical overload. MRI is essential for accurate characterization and exclusion of aggressive pathologies. This report highlights its relevance as a differential diagnosis in symptomatic hips, particularly in physically active individuals.
