ABSTRACT

Gout is an arthropathy caused by the deposition of monosodium urate crystals, typically presented in periarticular tissues. Intraosseous tophus is a rare manifestation that can mimic neoplastic lesions. We present the case of a 45-year-old man with a history of gout. Magnetic resonance imaging identified an intraosseous lesion in the patella. Imaging features were consistent with intraosseous tophus. The importance of differential diagnosis and the role of imaging in cases with few symptoms and uric acid levels below 7 mg/dL.
