ABSTRACT
We describe the clinical history of the typhoid fever
around General Luis Gonzaga Osollo (1828-1858), who
was the more merited general from the conservative side
in the three-year war (1857-1861). Typhoid fever is a
disease known since ancient Greece. Historically its
management was based on avoiding fever, prevent death
from dehydration resulting from diarrhea and improving
nutritional conditions. This operation lasted even in
1924 when the bowel resections by drilling began, but
mortality of over 75%. Both the historical circumstances
of the character and the clinical conditions of his death
are analyzed, ocurred in the city of San Luis Potosi on
June 19, 1858, under the care of Dr. Michael F. Jimenez.
