ABSTRACT

This is a prospective and descriptive trial regarding to the understanding of the informed consent that was required prior to admission in 246 patients who were scheduled for being submitted to orthopaedic surgery, from February to July of 1998. Results demonstrated satisfactory and complete understanding in 4.0%, partial understanding in 66.6% and poor in 29.2%.
