ABSTRACT

Objective. To determine the results of the Scheker technique for treatment of chronic distal radio-ulnar union instability. Material and methods. Sixteen adults aged 36.5 years in average (18 to 61) were operated on for reinforcement of distal radio-ulnar ligament, at the level of triangular cartilage, using a tendon graft previously harvested from flexor carpi radialis longus or from the plantaris muscle. Results. Good results were obtained in 14 cases (87%), fair in one and poor in one, because of prono-supination decrease and residual pain. Conclusion. It is concluded that present technique is low cost and easly available for reconstruction of joint instability.
