Clinical aptitude of occupational therapy students in two Units of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

ABSTRACT

This Study was done in the Instituto Mexicano of the Seguro Social in two Units of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation into the Federal District, among a measurement instrument that is built by resumes about real clinical cases. In this had participation 26 registered students in the Occupational Therapy, course in two places: A, 14: 9 of 1st and 5 of 2nd year; B, 12 Students in 3rd year. Objectives generals. To identify the level of the clinical aptitude of Occupational Therapy students and estimate the differences of clinical aptitude in the students. Design: Observational, transversal and retrolective. Results: The Internal consistence was 0.79 and the number of answers by casual effects was 18. The medians of each indicator among the three groups were compared and the result was a mainly statistic difference in the groups 1st vs 2nd and 1st vs 3rd ; however 2nd vs 3rd the differences are not meanful. Discussion: For the results obtained, the academic formation years not influent in the clinical aptitude, because of the fact that not reflection it favour on the own experience. Conclusion: In the educational strategies are required changes that albow the development of capacities in the daily clinical practice.
