ABSTRACT
One of the risk factors for osteoporosis is the sedentarism. Ergonometry shows that hart rate and cardiac outflow are in relation to oxigen consumption, increasing in a proportional way during test (Usabiaga, 1999).
Objective: To evaluate the cardiac efficacy in secondary osteoporosis.
Methods: We study 42 patients with osteoporosis in the National Rehabilitation Institute. We performed a Bruce hart test, evaluation age, gender, hart rate, blood pressure, motive of test suspension, coronary risk factors. We compared the hart test with the other risk factors.
Statistics: Central tendency measures and «t» Student.
Results: Mean age 61 years, weight 61 kg, high 1.27 m, hart rate 72 per min, stage 4, 6 METs, smoking 0.00001, obesity 0.00001, cholesterol 0.00001. Motive of test suspension: hypertension 5%, hypertension 5%, fatigue 81%, oxigen destruction 2%, angina 2% (p = 0.001).
Conclusion: Secondary osteoporosis is a consequence of integral health, with influence of hypertension, diabetes, sedentarism, dyslipidemias, coronary risk factors. D’amelio (2001) showed that oxigen comumption is the best base for exercise description. To achieve bone strength it is required to achieve a better trabecular organization and enlargement, without risk to old sedentary women and metabolic problems. Patients with osteoporosis should have a cardiac assay that help us evaluate its metabolic and energetic conditions.
