ABSTRACT

A new Era in Dentistry started when dental implants were presented and accepted at the International Consensus in Harvard on 1978. Colleges and public started to trust dental implants on the 80’s and due to the high expectations of our patients, demanding, not only the replacement of the tooth itself but also aesthetics and function; techniques have revolutionized our practices. Years ago, implants were placed angulated towards the lingual aspect of the alveolar process so we could place a screw and hide it behind the tooth covering it with all kinds of materials, so crowns had to be overcountour to compensate screw access. Now a days implants are placed in a position that will allow us to simulate a natural tooth, emerging from the middle portion of the crest with different materials posts and a restoration that could mimic natural dentition.
