ABSTRACT

Introduction. The diagnosis of the musculoeskeletal system’s tumors is difficult, even with the different present methods; the genetic, hereditary antecedents and a suitable clinical study are the first step, followed of a simple two planes radiological study. The radiological characteristics determine the benignancy or malignity of the tumor. The biopsy and histopathological study are the techniques of definitive diagnosis for neoplasies evaluation. Material and methods. In the Orthopedics Service of Juarez Hospital of Mexico, S.S. was made a prospective, longitudinal, clinical study in 45 patients with primary tumor injury of the musculoeskeletal system, with presumption clinical-radiographic diagnosis, biopsy by puncture of the tumor injury. Results. Simple clinical and radiological valuation has a high percentage of diagnostic certainty, since only in 9% the presumption clinical-radiological diagnosis did not correspond with the histopathological one. Discussion. Diagnosis of the primary musculoeskeletal system’s tumors, fundamentally is based on three aspects, clinical evaluation, valuation of studies by image and histopathological study.
