ABSTRACT

Objective: To present the case of a giant benign pancreatic cyst treated with endoscopic surgery performing a cystogastrostomy. Case description with medical history, imaging studies, description of the surgical technique and findings with photos.
Case report: A 19 years old female who presented with abdominal pain over the last two months associated with vomiting and weight loss. At physical examination a palpable mass of 10 x 10 cm was found. Abdominal tomography showed a 12 x 10 cm mass. Endoscopy was performed showing an extrinsic compression in antrum up to the second portion of the duodenum. The endoscopic retrograde colangiopancreatograhy ruled out any biliary tract abnormality. Laboratory exams including tumor markers were in normal range.
Material and methods: A diagnostic laparoscopic was performed showing a 13 x 14 cm mass form the head of the pancreas. It was dissected and drained. Fluid analysis was obtained as well as transoperatory biopsy which reported serous cistadenoma. A cystogastrostomy with stapler was performed.
Conclusion: The patient was discharge 6 days after surgery.
