Statistical analysis of the coxo-femoral surgical pathology at the Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitacion

ABSTRACT

Objective: Describing the frequency of the coxo-femoral illness attended in the National Institute of Rehabilitation in a period of a year. Methods: I am carried out a descriptive, longitudinal, prospective study and observational, in the period understood of October from the 2002 to October of the 2003. The variables they were studied and their presentation. Results: 303 patients in the National Institute of Rehabilitation with illness are captured coxofemoral of 1,107 of all the problems of coxalgia. Fifty nine males (29%) and 243 females (71%), average wound of acetabulum 235 (78%), femoral head 49 (16%) and femoral neck 18 (6%): 195 coxarthrosis: GIII: 99, GIV: 77, and GV: 19: 132 with march without use of ortesis, 138 with ortesis and in chair of wheels 33. One hundred and eight patients operated: Prosthesis of hip 62%, nails and plates 27%, osteotomies 7%, exeresis of femoral head 4%. Conclusion: The problem coxofemoral is very important in our population since affects economically active, young patients and the cost of the integral attention is high, by the degree of disability, being becoming a problem of health publishes. Complications of the surgeries were: 36 patients. Twelve with slackening of the prosthesis, 7 infection, 11 with wound of sciatic nervus and 6 break of material or prosthesis.
