In order to fullfill the objectives of this study, six wool sheep and 14 soil samples from Tres Marias as well as 16 wool and 10 soil samples from Cuajomulco, both in the state of Morelos in Mexico, were collected for Se and Cu comparative analyses. Sheep from Tres Marias besides grazing also received Se supplementation. Wool and soil samples were wet acid digested for Se and Cu analyses by flame and borohydride vapor generation atomic absorption spectrometry. Wool mean of Se concentration differed statistically between sheep from Tres Marias (66.7 ppb) and Cuajomulco (no measurable amounts) , indicating that sheep from Cuajomulco suffered Se deficiency. Wool Cu content in both groups was in healthy ovine range, 13.3 and 8.9 ppm, respectively. Soil samples from both areas had no Se detectable amounts, indicating soil deficiency, but no Se deficiency was recorded in the Tres Marias sheep group due to its supplementation. Cu soil concentration was 5.2 and 3.2 ppm for Tres Marias and Cuajomulco, respectively, indicating healthy amounts. It can be concluded that Se feed suplementation is needed for sheep in Cuajomulco.
