ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the usefulness of hearing-handicap inventory for the elder. Material and methods: prospective comparative, observational study. 60 major adultos with diagnose of presbyacusis with the method of audiometry. Results: A total of 113 patients was studied (53.1% men); of there 70 patients had presbyacusis. From the 28 patients without in 24 there was home discordance. Conclusions: Patients with a complaint of presbyacusis are candidates for an audiometry which will determine which hearing-aid will have the best function.
