ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to quantify, in standardized digitized bite-wing X-rays, the changes in thickness and density in dentinal tissue, by means of CADIA, produced in primary molars with deep decay, treated by atraumatic restorative treatment and restored with different therapeutics materials. Fifty primary molars of children between 5 and 7 years were randomly distributed in the following experimental groups: Calcium hydroxide/ IRM, Silver diamine fluoride 38% (SDF)/IRM, (SDF)/glass ionomers cement (GI), GI and glass ionomers resin modified. The X-rays were taken day 0 (post treatment), 90,180 and 360 days. All materials produced increase in dentine thickness and changes in the density, demonstrating only the glass ionomers cements showed, statistically significant changes (p = 0.063).
