Key words:

DEEP FLEXOR TENDON, TENDON CONTRACTED.

ABSTRACT

Many horses, donkeys and mules with contracted deep flexor tendons are considered not to heal and, therefore, sent to the slaughterhouse. Most owners do not realize that with an orthopaedic horseshoe this problem can considerably be improved. At the International Donkey Protection Trust-International League for the Protection of Horses-Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, 26 equids with contracted deep flexor tendon were treated with an orthopaedic and clipping horseshoe. The results were very satisfactory.
