Comparative study of the biomechanic work of system protaper and the manual instrumentation in vitro

ABSTRACT
Objective: to compare the biomechanics of the rotary system (Protaper) with the manual instrumentation of root canal file k flexofile (Maillefer), flex R (Miltex), evaluating its effectiveness.
Materials and method: In 30 inferior uniradicular premolars divided in two groups of 15. The teeth of group 1 were enlarged with the technique crown-down (file k flexofile 15-40 and flex R 45-80) and the teeth of group 2 with rotary system Protaper according to the recommendations of the manufacturer. Both groups were obturated with the conventional lateral compaction technique of gutta-percha cones using sealer Roth 801. Later the teeth were sectioned longitudinal, and observed with the stereoscopic microscope at 40x, the images were captured with a camera and in the computer, measurements of the spaces found were made, in a crown down and of the wall of the canal towards the gutta-percha.
Results: Significant differences in the spaces to the wide area existed and significant differences in the length crown to apical. The results were analyzed by student t test with a level of significance of a 0.05.
Conclusion: Under the conditions of this study the manual instrumentation gives better results for the suitable preparation of the root canal and the apical sealed.
